Yesterday, Steve and I trekked up to the Melwood Screening Room to see the 2013 Academy nominations for short subject documentaries.
Five must-see films including topics of aging, effects of chemotherapy, homeless children, recycling on the streets of NY for a livelihood, and childhood heart disease in Africa. There will be another opportunity to see them there next weekend, a very moving four hours.
I am voting for the winner to be my favorite of the bunch: Inocente about a fifteen-year-old undocumented homeless artist. WOW- what a story and you can watch it on-line here right now.
The stories were so moving that I looked up last year’s winner: Saving Face about the regular attacks of acid on the faces of abused women in Pakistan. You can watch it here.
These are stories to be heard.
