Between the Door and the Street, is a public art project created by feminist artist Suzanne Lacy. 300 women and a few men from a cross-section of ages, backgrounds, and perspectives, will gather on the stoops of Park Place in Brooklyn, to engage in unscripted conversations about gender-related aspects of today’s issues like reproductive rights and immigration.

I knew of Suzanne Lacy from a 1987 PBS performance with 430 women over the age of 60 gathered to share their views on growing older as the culmination of a three-year public artwork empowering and giving a voice to older women. At the time I loved it because she called it The Crystal Quilt. Now that I’m over sixty, I love it even more as the voice of the elders. Wish I could be in Brooklyn tomorrow…..
