Eating Right, Keeping Fit

Adelle Davis Books

My disillusionment over the value of vitamin supplements can be traced to Adelle Davis’s death in 1974. In my youth, I used her book Let’s Eat Right to Keep Fit as my nutrition bible until her sudden death at the age of seventy. Then it was clear that vitamins were not the panacea she had claimed.

This week, Annals of Internal Medicine, published three new studies that found that a daily multivitamin will not boost the average American’s health, does not ward off heart problems or memory loss and will not add to a longer life span. The experts behind the research even went so far as to suggest the abandonment of the supplements.

I wonder if they know of Adelle Davis?
