Freedom Seder

Probably, there is no bigger innovation in Jewish practice, than The Freedom Seder. It happened in 1969, on the anniversary of King’s death, when 800 people gathered in the basement of Lincoln Temple, a black church in Washington, D.C. Jews and Christians, rabbis and ministers, black and white held The Freedom Seder. They used Arthur Waskow’s new Haggadah about the mythic promise of emancipation relevant to the times.

This year, let’s talk about the freedoms of our time an updated Haggadah: Muslims, Transgender, Refugees…… enough to keep us at the table well after midnight.
