A tallit katan is a kaftan-like garment with tzitzit on each of the four corners. It is worn in addition to regular clothing, a constant reminder of the obligation to follow the mitzvot/ commandments.
I have a life-long fascination with kaftans. I purchased my first of these ethnic garments in the old city of Jerusalem at the age of 16. Working with the shape as an art canvas, applying decorative stitching like Japanese Boro and Indian Kantha, speaks to why I love them.
The BUBBEWISDOM TALLIT KATAN is my mission statement in cloth form. The Hebrew words embroidered on this tallit are both my personal descriptors and my statement of intention.
Bubbe connotes an old-fashioned stay-at-home elder. Applying my self-leadership style to the redefinition of Bubbe brought me to the title BubbeWisdom. On The Tree of Life, chochmah/ wisdom, combines with binah/ understanding, to develop kavanah/ intentional living. Kavanah defines BubbeWisdom.
