I gravitate toward innovation, describing myself as being a little ahead and to the left. A little ahead: discovering something new and novel, well before the mainstream; to the left: advocating for a democracy of economic, political and social justice. Rabbi Nachman of Braslav’s famous quote, “Life is a very narrow bridge between two eternities. Be not afraid” is my inspiration to express this idea in the quilt, NARROW BRIDGE.
Netzach is derived from two Hebrew words: nitzachon –victory and nitzchiut –eternity. Netzach combines day-by-day personal deeds with eternal spirit.
The Log Cabin pattern is a traditional representation for the home. Usually made of scraps, the quilt shows frugality and resourcefulness. It has a strong color value of distinct lights and darks, built from the center square of each block. It requires significant commitment to the repetitive actions of cutting, organizing and piecing. Variations like Barn Raising and Straight Furrows refer to the basics of daily life in the same way netzach adds the ephemeral.
