Next Thursday, August 13th, my daughter, Sarah and I will discuss the text I created for Dayenu: It Would Have Been Enough. at Brew House Arts. My writing expands the context and process for each quilt in the Dayenu exhibition.
Sarah and I began working together in 2012 while she was living in NYC looking to augment her income. Her idea was to recycle denim into bags. This became our Big Bag.
We went on to do develop two collections, many projects, and a steady stream of sales on ETSY. You can see our video introduction on silkdenim.us and a special feature from WQED. Through this working relationship, Sarah has deep knowledge of my quilt making process. Thursday night will be a rare opportunity to see our mother/daughter communication system in action.
Dayenu: It Would Have Been Enough is my career capstone exhibition featuring an all-new body of work. The exhibition includes art quilts, scrap quilts, flags, kaftans, portraits, and pillows, all made from repurposed fabrics.
Exhibition Tour will begin at 6:30pm. Tickets are available on a sliding scale from $0-$20. You can sign up on Eventbrite or just show up. We can’t wait to share the evening with you!
